You want to read Charlotte Mason’s actual words.

you just don’t want to do it alone.

The Charlotte Mason’s Volumes Community is a warm, close-knit membership

for moms who are ready to read Mason’s original writing, and to live it out in their homes.

the moment of recognition

You’ve heard the podcast.

You’ve seen the quotes.

You’ve nodded along to the beautiful ideas about children as persons, about atmosphere and living books and narration.

And somewhere in the back of your mind, there has been this quiet thought: I really need to read her actual words someday.

So you borrow someone else’s summary. You find a blog post that explains it. You read other moms’ interpretations on an Instagram post (not realizing they’ve not read all the original volumes themselves yet!)

But “someday” keeps getting pushed back. Because Mason’s writing is not exactly light reading. It is rich and layered and, if you’re honest, a little hard to follow when you’re tired.

You do learn something.

But you have this nagging feeling

you’re just getting the shell, not the meat.

And you never quite feel like you’re standing on your own two feet with this philosophy. Like it is yours. Like you actually know it, not just know about it.

THAT'S WHAT THIS COMMUNITY IS FOR.

the problem beneath the problem

Here’s what Min has learned after over 15 years of teaching

& breathing the Charlotte Mason philosophy: secondhand is not enough to build a home education that's brilliantly yours.

Not because the summaries and interpretations are bad.

But because Mason’s ideas are not sound bites.

They are a whole vision of what a child is and what education is.

And that vision only becomes yours when you sit with her actual words long enough to let them change how you see.

Reading Mason is the difference between borrowing a philosophy and owning one.

And you cannot confidently lead your children if you're still unsure yourself.

iNtroducing the community

So let’s read her words together.

The Charlotte Mason’s Volumes Community is a membership built around one simple rhythm:

we read Charlotte Mason’s original volumes, chapter by chapter, together.

We're starting at the very beginning with Volume 1, Home Education, which is the foundation.

Each chapter Min reads on the Charlotte Mason’s Volumes podcast becomes the starting point for our community discussion.

Listen. Read. Write in your study guide. Bring your questions, and your “oh, so THAT’S what that means” moments.

And work it all out with other kindred spirits who are doing the same thing.

This is not a course.

It’s a supportive reading and learning community for mothers, who love living ideas, and want to understand what they believe and why.

And it’s the kind of space where you can say,

I have no idea what she meant by this paragraph

without feeling behind.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

Here’s what you get when you join.

  • A private community space on your client portal: When you join, you get immediate access to your own client portal, where the community lives. It’s organized, easy to access (browser or app), and not another Facebook group competing for your attention.

  • Bi-monthly live coffee chats with Min: Once a month, we gather live together. You bring your questions about what we’re reading, your struggles applying it at home, and anything else you want to think through out loud.

  • The Vol.1 Study Guide Workbook, AND all future Volumes’ workbooks, inside the community: The Vol.1 Study Guide is already in your hands as a resource to work through Mason’s writing. As a community member, it lives right alongside your discussions so you can use it in context as you go.

  • Early access to all other resources: As Min continues reading through Mason’s volumes on the podcast, she will create study guides and supporting resources to go with them. Community members always get these first, before they are released publicly.

Is this the right place for you?

This community is for you if:

You’re a homeschooling mom OR teacher at a CM school, who wants to understand Charlotte Mason from the source, not just from secondary resources.

You listen to the Charlotte Mason’s Volumes podcast and you want somewhere to talk about what you’re hearing.

You’ve tried CM and found yourself second-guessing every decision because you were never sure if you truly understood the philosophy underneath the methods.

You want to think, read, and discuss with other kindred-spirit women who take this seriously.

You’re ready to slow down and actually learn something, instead of consuming content and moving on.

This community is probably not the right fit if:

You’re looking for a full curriculum guide or a step-by-step system for implementing CM methods. That’s a different conversation, and a deeper one.

(If that’s what you need, CM101 may be exactly what you need.)

This community is first and foremost a reading and discussion space.

It’s wonderful. But it’s also exactly what it says it is.

Why create this community?

2010

I came across Charlotte Mason’s words, which lit a fire in my soul. BUT, I was advised not to read her original words myself –that it would be too difficult for me to understand. So I read others’ interpretations instead.

2011

Until one day, I had this thought: If they, who are homeschool moms like me, can read Mason’s original words and understand, why can’t I?

So I sourced the original out-of-print “pinks” from online used bookstores, shipped them to Korea, and devoured Mason’s words at night while my children slept.

My understanding and implementation soared exponentially. Living ideas transfer “mind to mind”! I wish I didn’t waste time, and had gone “straight to the source” from the start.

2012-PRESENT

I was in a foreign country, a lone CM homeschool mom. So, I started online CM Book Clubs.

Then, in-person CM book clubs once we moved back to the U.S.

Then, a CM parenting conference: Gospel Vision For Children

Then, 2 podcasts: Charlotte Mason For All, and Charlotte Mason’s Volumes

Then, an online membership for CM moms, inspired by Mason’s habit formation ideas: Life-giving Motherhood™

Then, CM for Children’s Ministry Directors: Charlotte Mason Sunday School Course

Then, CM co-ops (and speaking at retreats, conferences, churches, & schools)

Then, joined the Charlotte Mason Institute (CMI) Board of Directors

Then, revamped Life-giving Motherhood™ into a coaching cohort

And now this wonderful CMV Community™!

All to help you go right to the source, right from the start. So, my friend…

Don’t waste any more time only reading books about her words. Do this instead...

Join for less than a cup of coffee a week.

There is no right moment to start except the one where you decide

you’re ready to actually read Charlotte Mason’s writing,

with women alongside you who are doing the same thing.

If you’ve been meaning to do this for a while, this is the simplest way to begin.

A few questions you might have.

Do I need to have read Charlotte Mason’s volumes before joining?

No. We are starting at the very beginning with Volume 1. This community is built precisely for women who have not yet read Mason’s original writing, or who have tried and found it hard to get through alone.

Do I need have listened to the Charlotte Mason’s Volumes podcast?

It helps, because the podcast episodes are the starting point for our community discussions. But you do not need to be caught up. You can jump in wherever we are.

What does “monthly coffee chat” look like?

Once a month, Min hosts a live call inside the community. These are small, informal, and conversational. You can come with questions about what we are reading, about applying CM in your specific home situation, or just to listen and be present with other moms.

What if I join and fall behind on the readings?

This is a community, not a course. There is no falling behind. The discussions stay in the online community and you can engage at whatever pace your life allows. The resources you receive as a member are yours to use on your own timeline.

Is this connected to CM101: Mindset & Methods cohort?

Not officially, though the two complement each other well. This community is a reading and discussion space. CM101 is a 12-week coaching cohort for moms who want to go deeper into the mindset and methods of Charlotte Mason with video modules, weekly live coaching, and a small group structure for accountability. Community members will be among the first to know when enrollment opens, which is only once a year.

When does my access begin?

Instantly! As soon as you join, your client portal is active and you can access the community space, the study guide resources, and the details for the upcoming monthly call.

We’re starting at the very beginning.

Charlotte Mason wrote her volumes for parents and educators of children just like us. For the person sitting in real homes and schools, with real children, trying to understand what it means to give them an education worthy of who they are as born persons. Imago Dei!

She did not gatekeep her ideas.

She wrote them down for us.

And they are waiting for you.

Come read them with us.

“But we hold that all education is divine, that every good gift of knowledge and insight comes from above, that the Lord the Holy Spirit is the supreme educator of mankind, and that the culmination of all education... is that personal knowledge of and intimacy with God in which our being finds its fullest perfection.”
